Quantization Error

- Errors in a recorded signal caused by rounding (squaring off) the continuous analog signal

- Errors are heard as distortion (similar to square wave sound)

- Connected with the signal

- Errors happened in LSB (Least Significant Bit)

- When level is lowered, you hear more distortion (because sound is calculated logarithmic value)

- Most noticeable when quiet

*Least Significant Bit (LSB): 010010010(1) —> ‘1’ is LSB. If every bit is used, error is not heard; Error is limited to 1/2 LSB in level
